Recovering in Carmel

Remember Bushed? Well, the week just kept on going and today Sat...I'm recovering. Climbing, walking, carrying stuff, and all the rest of what happened this week resulted in a huge body toll. Uck...I need to be about 15 years younger. I've had a rather sore foot which I waited for about 3 months to get better and finally went to my favorite fixit shop...Ortho Indy. So...Doc. says... and I think he's right...that I have tendonitis in my foot. Well, I'm wearing a brace for three weeks and then back to see the doc. It probably has something to do with the Y and new sneakers and getting old. But...no restrictions other then the brace needs to be on when I'm not in bed! That's not a big deal. My plan is to get this settled down and then think about the left knee fixit job in the fall. It's been screaming this week mostly at night. Taking ibuprofen is not in my best stomach interest if I remember correctly. The fact that we will be in Georgia with Dee this coming week might be a gift to body parts come to think of it. Life continues to be interesting.

Dee is making his final vows for monk life on Wed. and other brother Rick is also coming from TX. I'm looking forward to spring in Ga. It might happen. It should be days of sitting in the sun, walking the woods and just hanging out. Woo, woo. We're leaving Sun. after church...taking a day and a half to get to Conyers and then back home starting Thursday afternoon.

This week I finished quilt patch no. 81, 8 more Kenya dolls and a book. The quilt needs 9 half patches and then it's put together time. I don't have a clue how long that will take.

Bushed in Carmel.

Busy, busy two days. Today is FAT Tuesday...Tomorrow Lent so...the green is gone at church and the purple is everywhere. Lots of new ways to decorate for Lent. What a blast. Church people should recognize that something new is going on. Yesterday I spent the day at church putting out banners...thinking, thinking and doing some more and getting ready for my two good friends Donald and Alan to come in and work today with ladder climbing. They are two great people who both have a great vision for church visuals. Alan is a retired church oraganist. Just fun to work with. So...what I wasn't sure of they came through with lots of ideas. I love purple on beautiful gray stone. Just really gives everything a punch. The sanctuary is finished...the east hall is finished...the west entrance area is finished the chapel has a touch. I used LOTS of fishing net in lots of places. We have a good number of great Lent visual pieces to use.
And...5 parables are being used during Lent and there are some visuals for those as well.

Quilt patches continue...I'm up to 79...need 81 patches and then it's 10 half patches and then...it's put together time. That will be a LONG time. Still going to the Y and treadmill for 30 minutes each week day. My left knee doesn't like it AT ALL. What a bummer. I'm not to surprised that it's wearing out just like the right one did. I've inherited Pop's knees. Bummer again. I'm also headed to the foot surgeon on Friday. HOpe to learn why my left foot hurts. It's been complaining for about 2 months. Maybe they are both related to each other. I'm taking time for the foot now and the knee needs to wait till fall. Humm...hope that works.

Sunday afternoon Doug and I are leaving for a time in Georgia with Doug's brother Dee. He is making his final vows in the 5 year process of becoming a monk at Conyers Georgia just south east of Atlanta. We are taking two days to drive arriving Mon. afternoon and then leaving again probably Thursday sometime heading back to Indy. Brother Rick also will be with us. Great family time. It's time to get out of Dodge and look for spring. I'm sure we'll find it. The trip can be made with a LONG drive in one day but it's so nice just to mozy along. We took a lot of back roads coming home from Ga. at Thanksgiving time. Saw a LOT of things. Woo...the traffic should be much better...NO thanksgiving traffic. That's just the worst.

Tonight is Fat Tuesday dinner at North...tomorrow is front desk work and handbells, Thursday is soup kitchen day and choir. Same old same old as JB would say. So glad to have Lent on the way.

Woo. 9 days later

Where does the time go...Guess you all know I'm getting older by the minute. You are ALL right behind me. Well, some at a distance come to think of it. This week...humm. Still keeping the crock pot busy. Finished the 100th doll for Kenya. Now I need to think about getting them across the pond. Quilt tops keeps right on growing although my fingers really take a needle beating so I stop and get them healed up just to start all over again. I'm up to 62 whole patches...needing 81 and about 12 half patches for a queen size bed. Then it's even more hexagon disks to put it all together.

Soup kitchen today was fantastic. Still serving T bones this time from Super bowl rescue squad Second Helpings. Fed lots of folks and they were one happy bunch of people. Just a lot of fun although Joan came in once again plowed to the max. She is one interesting person. She comes on Sundays to hospitality and just loves Doug but hates me! That means she's been drinking again. I do wish she could stay sober and out of physical fights that bruise up her face but that is not Joan. She just cannot keep her mouth shut when she's been drinking. Results...Black eyes that signal she should leave where she is. I get it...she doesn't.

Hair cut yesterday...I am one short hair lady. Never have seen it this short but I asked for it and I got it.

Bell practice last night. We are getting ready for a Bell Festival at Anderson Indiana on March 3rd. Woo...did we work and it was a very helpful evening of slinging bells. That's about it for today. Miss the Colts...Pacers should be doing better but they are NOT. IU, Purdue, Butler all won their latest game. Choir tonight. Tomorrow I can play all day. There is nothing on the calendar. Woo...here comes sewing.

It's Tues. after...

Yup...after the Super bowl. Great exciting game and Eli is just the greatest. Fun to have another Manning playing in Indy. Now...what will happen with Peyton. We'll see. It was a buzzing weekend to say the least. Now...it's the usual...Sewing machine is purring right along. I'm back to making flower garden patches which don't require machine and little dolls for Moe and Kenya that do. I think I'm up to 70 now...Goal is at least 100. It's break time because the fleece is gone temporarily. I'm waiting for a sale.

I'm cooking for friends Ellen and Todd. Ellen is getting her third chemo treatment Thursday. These first 4 treatments are huge ones. Ellen is out of it for days and then slowly comes back just to get knocked down again. Go away cancer!!! After these four there are 8 smaller ones done each week. Took food to their house for Todd yesterday. Ellen is having a very difficult time eating because of sore in her mouth, not an uncommon occurrence that usually ends with 80% of cancer patients with some form of malnurishment during treatment. We took a short sunny walk yesterday before I left. Todd got beef stroganoff. Ellen got things to make smoothies. I have cream of potato to deliver. The crock pot has been cranking food out and the better side of that is that Doug and I are eating healthier food. It seems to be easier to cook for 4 instead of 2. More motivation for sure.

Tomorrow I'm working at the front desk at church, tomorrow night is bells, Thurs. is soup kitchen...Same old, same old as JB would say. Football is over...Boo Hoo...but the Pacers are playing. So...life goes on.

Tomorow the bowl game

It's been a very interesting week for Indy. The city is buzzing big time with just tons of excitement. I didn't get down town but I don't think I missed much staying home. Last night had it's own excitement with outdoor entertainment crowds packing so tightly together . Streets were overflowing and more were closed to traffic to accommodate the crowd. It's been unusually warm. But today there is a big damp nip in the air. Should force people to do more inside eating which should really help the restaurants. There seems to be food carts everywhere for outside eating. Huge posters are everywhere. One new hotel is completely covered. I'm sure that will be shown on TV at some point. It's not unusual to see fleets of buses cruising the streets bring people in from far and near. Also I spotted big RV's parked at the shopping centers.

I continue to sew baby dolls for Moe Hospital to give to children who are needing to go to the "horrible" treatment rooms. 60 now are completed and I've found another person who wants to sew so now there are three sewing machines turning out babies. I've also found a way to get them to Kenya by April 1. Yahoo. I'll just keep on rolling. Simple easy project to bring a soft squeezable comfort item to a child receiving treatment. There will be as usual a trip to the bakery tonight to get pastries for hospitality time at church tomorrow. I'm singing first service with the quartet and with the choir sec. service...home and then it's Super Bowl time...Go Giants. Quilt patches still are waiting and that's fine. 40 are finished. Need 80 to start work on a quilt top. It will take for ever how ever long that is.
