Wed.

Life is moving right along. I think I'm in pretty good shape for the rest of the week. That's a big YAHOO for sure. Tomorrow is soup kitchen and the rest of the week can just happen. 90% of my preparation is finished. The weather is really warm today. Indy is ready for the NCAA games. Butler is going crazy which is fun to see on the little 4000 less student body. I finished a quilt top yesterday and this morning cut out another one. The sewing machine is calling!!!!

Holy Week

Yes...this is Holy Week. One of my least favorite weeks because it seems like there are to many people spinning out of control at church which impacts my life. It's the same every year. I told the staff that they need an assigned Nanny to see that all the details that they want to happen are known well in advance of their service. Someone who can keep track of the big picture holding them accountable. It's not going to happen but it's a suggestion. Palm Sun. is done and now three more to go. I worked today for 3 hrs putting away Palm Sun and some things are finished for the Thursday service. Friday's will me simple and Sat. we'll bring in the big stuff. Lots of flower shopping on Thursday and Friday for Sun morning. Tomorrow as well as every day of this week I will need to spend some time working ahead. The weather has been beautiful and will even get better. I spent 2 hrs. at Goodwill this afternoon and my summer clothes are well in hand. 45 bucks bought a whole bunch of stuff including a few little things for Eli. I need to get them in the mail. We went to Steak and Shake for Supper today. I've shortened my new pants. I'm ready to watch the ladies play basketball. Go Butler!!!!!

The latest knee headline

Appointment with Doc. Fisher but not until April 30th. Must be a good doctor. I'm very cautious about getting around since this latest flare up. What a bummer. I can still stoop over to pull weeds but I certainly know at this point that a little bit is enough. I'm rallying the forces to get me through B and B and Sun. morning hospitality. The knee is in my face and very personal. So...we'll see what goes. I'm still sewing and will not be on the fence unless it's really necessary. Bummer, bummer, bummer.

The eyes have it!

Surgery went well. Doug had a pick up for surgery at 6:30 am and was back home again by 9:30. He can see wonderfully well. Better than the first surgery. Yahoo. He gets the second eye taken care of in April after Easter some time. Worked at church today. The donkey is back in the west entrance waiting quietly for Palm Sun. Will do a little tomorrow as well and than Fri. we'll finish up. That means every day at church this week.

A few things happening.

Yes...a few things have happened. Still making quilt tops and hope to get another one put together today. I cut all the fabric yesterday while watching basket ball. Woo...3 Big Ten teams are in the sweet sixteen. And...two Indiana teams, Butler and Purdue are still in the hunt. The next games will be tough for sure. Well, come to think of it a bunch of tough games have already been played.

Doug bought a new truck. His was 6 years old and a huge repair was done last week with more to come so he traded his gray in for a white. This morning at 6:20 he got a pick up from the eye clinic to have laser surgery done on his eye. It seems as sometimes happens, cataracts are growing once again over his eyes. Laser should take care of that. It's one today and maybe one tomorrow. He'll find out today about the second one.

This week I'll be spending a bit more time at church getting ready for Palm Sunday. Then...Holy week. That's always a big work time.

Prayers for Andrea Woo who is what seems to be the last stages of renal failiar. Such a special choir friend who discovered a few months ago that her kidney was being attacked by cancer. The second one has failed and she is hospitalized. Husband Tom is an Orthapedic surgeon who has given me such good knee advice and both are such super people, Andrea working in Bread and Bowl on Tuesdays and choir member Tom just tuned in to a whole lot of what goes on at North. Both need much prayer support.

Knees...Humm...what to do. The right is totally worn out and needs a total replacement. Do I do it in the spring or fall. The closer spring comes the better fall sounds. SEM is back from Eldoret in May and I want to be available to do things with her. So...late August is looking good. I tilled the gardens and planted potatoes...First ever...and I got through that pretty well. The good part of all this is that the knee damage is done and I can't do more than what is already there so the doc says. Tom W gave me some new Ortho Indy Docs. to call. He said he would trust them with his knees and that's good enough for me. So...that's it from here. The sewing machine is calling, I hear rain outside and later this morning I'm off to get the bed liner in the truck. Doug will be home late afternoon.

Another day

I did an entry yesterday and then lost it all and I just quit. So today is another day. Yesterday I let the sewing machine rest for a while and scrubbed the kitchen floor, cleaned out the refrigerator and set the oven on self clean. Woo, woo. Makes for a better brain to see the dirt off the floor. I also got all of the quilt tops ready to take to church tomorrow to the quilting ladies. There are 4. Last night I went to Greenspace and saw some wonderful photography of Indiana from north to south during all the seasons of the year. There certainly are some pretty things in Indiana. When I was trying to get pictures on the blog I happened to find last summers camping pictures. That was a great treat. All three families have reservations at Fort Wilkins this summer. Woo...5 little grand boys. This should be fun for sure. This morning I started on another quilt top and put together 12 15 inch blocks. I'm hoping on Thursday at the charity quilt meeting to find fabric to put them all together with fabric inbetween the blocks. Today has been a warm sunny day. That's to last for a few days and I'm hoping the maple tree blooms. Then the weekend is to be very cold and I'm hoping that all the blossoms freeze. I really want all those seeds to go away. Could I get lucky? Tomorrow is working at the church desk, bells in the evening, doing some Bread and Bowl preparation and then Thurs. is B and B and Choir. That's it from here. Tried again for a picture. I'm missing a part again.

Skip the no post...I'm trying my best to post pictures. There is some little thing that I must be missing that just is driving me NUTS. One of these days or weeks or months I'll get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taking a break

Doug and I traveled to Michigan to see the newest Russell, Eli. What a cutie. Surprise, surprise. This little guy has a look entirely his own. Lots of black hair and eyes so dark. They almost look black. He's a little guy compared to his birth weight brothers and seems so far to be a very easy baby. He's been to church already. Born on Tues. Church the following Sunday. When we got to their house the whole family was out playing on the ice. Well, Eli was in his mothers arms but he was very near the action. Jacob and Adam were completely soaked but weren't complaining about being cold but they were. Kimmy is doing very well and seems very relaxed with the new little guy. His brothers and dad I would say are in the same boat. It's been a great break from the Indiana routine. Woo...the snow is gone and I hope not to see more till next winter. We're going to have lots of rain this week. Tomorrow is volunteer work at church and the rest of the week is the same old same old as it usually is. We had a great visit and I told Doug we need to go back in two months.

Friday

This morning I started putting together a wall hanging full of bright colors. It's going in the livingroom when the snowmen come down. That should be soon since most of the snow has melted. Warmer days ahead. The quilters guild met this afternoon and I took 6 quilt tops to donate to charity as well as a bag that will be sold at the quilt show. The sewing room took a brief rest getting a good sweep out. Peg brought me more sample fabrics which are a bit heavier fabric and it's perfect for more bags so another one is almost finished. I like the challenge of making something out of almost nothing. Keeps the brain thinking. Sunday we are leaving for Michigan for two sleeps. Got to see that newest grandbaby. What a treat. Yesterday I took the car to the car wash and it is looking wonderful. We're driving it to Michigan. The truck can stay put for another trip. It's cruise control time.

Big day

Today we added the fifth grandson to the family. His name is Eli and he weighs 7 12,
We're off to see the little guy and his family this weekend. That will give Kimmy a little time to settle in before we land in her living room on Sunday. We should be back home Tuesday. The sewing machine continues to crank out quilt tops for the Indian Quilters Guild. What fun. Quilt tops make no sense. You take a piece of fabric, cut it up and then sew it back together again. But it's fun anyways. This friday I'm going to the guild's monthy meeting and will take 5 tops and a tote bag. I'm really looking forward to the meeting. The ladies are so nice and the programs are good. It's getting warmer and the snow is finally melting. The Lenten Rose in the flower bed is starting to bloom. You know it's Lent. Tomorrow I'm working on the front desk at church in the morning. Bell practice in the evening. Soup Kitchen on Thursday and then Choir practice. Life keeps on churning.
