Monday again

Those Mondays just keep coming. Sewing continues. This past week I finished two quilt tops the material coming from the Indianapolis Quilters Guild. What fun. That means that I'm joining the guild once again. I did before and was way to busy to attend the meetings. Might be this time as well but they do have neat sewing projects. The last of the bug projects are in the mail for Kimmy. That is unless another one comes along. It's time to clean up the sewing room before something else gets piled up on top. This week looks a little quiet at this point. Well, maybe today and tomorrow.

Another Monday Slamm

You guessed it...snowing again in Indy. The road past the house is covered once again. This time it should be two inchesat least and since not much has melted it's just piled on top time. This past week the sewing machine didn't stay quiet for very long. I finished up all the baby stuff and sent it on it's way to Michigan. That's a quilt, bumpers, diaper hanger, bed skirt, curtain and it arrived in good shape. Well, bugs are on my mind and over the weekend I made something to hang on the wall. Now I think I'm finished with all that stuff. I started a pillow for a great little Bread and Bowl worker. She will be surprised but so deserving. Some cloth napkins and a table runner are also in progress. I saw that idea at the sewing machine store. Just pretty stuff. Today, I'm meeting two guys at church to change the colors from green to purple. It's time for Lent. Some new banners, many different kinds of crosses among other things will go up until Easter.

Second Slam coming

Well, at least that's the report. 4 to 8 inches starting at midnight and going on till Tues. evening. We'll see. I hit the library for another 9 books on quilt making among other things. Just fun to sit and read. Much cheaper come to think of it. I gave the sewing room a good dusting and cleaning and sorting and it looks so good that I want to enjoy that for a minute or two. Had a request for Naoprene material from Sarah Ellen. She wants to use it to build a brace for one of the little 2 yr old abandoned babies...Debbie...who has a horrible curvature of the spine. It's not sure that Debbie will ever walk. Well, a dive shop donated a dive suit that can be cut up to make a brace. Naoprene is horribly expensive and until we know if this brace will work and not disappear for some crazy Kenyan reason I think this is the way to go. So today I learned about Naoprene. I'm also getting started on another Toys for Kenya project. It's Fisher Price type stuff that will go to a clinic in western Kenya. This may take some doing since getting things to Kenya is becoming exceedingly difficult. So onward and upward. More challenges coming. I'm hoping to involve at least two other churches in the Indy area to pull this off. There are a number of people going to Kenya this summer and this might be our ticket to get trunks of toys on their way. Who knows what tomorrow might bring...well snow for sure but what else. Don't know.

Slammed in Carmel

Well like everyone else in the midwest and east coast...snow is falling big time. Don't know where it will stop but we are snowed in. I think it's around 5 inches now and the snow is to continue until tomorrow noon. Really nice we have no place to go. I continue to work on the next michigan project...that's stuff for the babies room. It's almost all finished but the darn bumpers. I made them and of course one always washes everything when it's finished and the bumpers shrunk big time...so now I'm adding to them so that they will fit around the total bed. Sometimes I wash fabric before sewing and I didn't this time. I think the fiber fill is really the cause of shrinking and that would have happened regardless. It's just a painful thing to deal with. So the bumpers have a new unexpected look but they will work fine. I hope to finish tomorrow and then we might need a dog sled to get them to fed ex. Just might wait till Monday to ship.

Wed. a week later

Busy again is the word. No moss so far growing around me. A huge box is on it's way to Michigan with lots of goodies for just about everyone in that family. Should arrive today or tomorrow and I can't wait to hear what they say. Should be a fun box to open. I've started working on bumpers, quilt, curtain, diaper holder and bed skirt for the new little guy whatever his name is. I'm getting a bit tired of wondering. I'm up to 40 bugs all over everything at this point and I think that will do it. I should be ready to get the bumpers and quilt together perhaps today and then it's deciding how to machine quilt the bumpers and quilt. That's the fun part. My hands are a bit tired from hand stitching for 12 hrs. yesterday...Who made me do that. Well, no one. It just proves that maybe I'm lacking in common sense. Thinking Colts as is everyone else in central Indiana. It's been a blue week with the water in the channel in the city being dyed blue. Love every minute of it.
