I have six friends that are moving. Some out of state and my sister to a beautiful retirement home closer to my house. So...moving. We are not moving but I decided that I should start to act like we are. So...going through stuff and throwing out stuff that should not have even been in boxes. Grr.
The large trash cans have been full each week but some of that is the continued accumulation of garden trash. Little by little is how it goes. The weather is cooler and it really feels like fall. Doug closed the windows last night...more covers on the bed and the sweatshirt feels good during the day. I hate to turn on the furnace. Fourth afghan is on the needle. Such fun and it keeps me off my bum hip that still is showing some bursitis. I should do more for it but I keep thinking that the hip will get tired of being sore all by its self. Well maybe it won't. That's another bummer. .Political news is keeping me entertained. I thought the Monday night show was just great even though I said I was not going to watch...well, I did. Doug and I continue to go to the Y. Doug uses the bike and treadmill. I do the treadmill. Doug's knee cap has decided to move to the side which is a bit painful...so off to the bone doc and then to rehab and a retapeing every morning. It's getting better but not the best yet. So the Y is helping to strengthen muscles to hold everything in place. This living in old bodies sometimes sucks. Yesterday was a rainy day and while on 38th street near the church a guy with a jeep slide into me in the back. Didn't hurt the car...Yahoo but I did have a stiff neck last night that a bit of advil fixed. Lucky for me and lucky for the hitter. His jeep did have some damage but he said that had happened in another accident. Good grief. Does he go around looking for cars to hit. I hope not. Made me laugh when I had time to think about our conversation.
Today was soup kitchen day...last Thurs. of the month and we had lots of folks who were pretty decent. Infact I commented that my friends were back. That was not the case last week. Lots of complaining needy ladies. They are the worst. Tonight is choir practice. Tomorrow Andrew and Noah spend the day with me. We might make scones. So...that's it or sort of that's it.

Busy as a BEE
Well...maybe not quite that busy. Bees are really busy as Jared has proven once again with a record honey harvest.
Today was a day spent with my 95 yr. old friend Doris. She is back at the "home" after falling and a 6 day hospitalization, working hard to get back to her apartment. It will be a stretch but who knows what will be the end result. She was really discouraged as I would be also. So..it was distraction day. We walked around outside...well she rode...I walked. Then it was a grand visit with company Ann Frick, a visit back in her apartment looking around, scheduling a banner coffee talk for Nov. 1...and lunch in the grand eating area...a change from her daily routine. Woo...lots of good talk...lots of visiting...lots of planning and what started with tears ended with many good laughs and great conversation. A most worthwhile day I hope for her as well as this writers.
I've started cleaning out the flowerbeds but am not rolling along as fast as I perhaps should roll.
I enjoy being outside but working in 85/90 degree temps are not as much fun as I wish. Continue to crochet afghans...the third almost finished but I need more yarn. Bummer.
Sad news coming from Michigan...Jared's dog Truman was put down this summer after maybe 16 years with the family and now Kimmy's dog Norman...notice the man in the name...has Addison's disease. Not good news. So hard when pets leave their families. Norman is still here but treatment is not an easy choice. I think Norman is maybe 6 at the most. Sad, sad.
That's the news for now.

Sat...blah day
Rain and cooler. Cooler is better. I'm beginning to mold. Crocheting...hands are so sore. You would think I knew better. I don't. But today I did a bit of fringing. My surgery hand continues to heal so I know that less is better. Kids came over for a while today. Got lots of basil and Noah dug carrots. Kat helped me out with figuring out how to read a crochet pattern. Can be confusing so I just sort of made up my own. She says she does that all the time. For some reason I kept falling asleep this afternoon. Got my flu shot yesterday and that might be part of it. Sort of icky. Excuses, excuses. Today I took a bag to goodwill and another one to the garbage can. Some days I get some ambition and this afternoon happened. I decided that I should think I'm moving. I still have remnants of teaching and since the grand kids are getting older...not so interested in colored pencils and books..etc. I need to keep moving on this but I think done for the day. I do like empty plastic containers. I DON"T need stuff. It can be a millstone holding me down.

Life changes...
Yes...what I thought was the plan became not the plan. Banner program. That was planned for yesterday BUT...banner maker Doris fell on Thurs of last week and was at Community North until today...So...it was hospital visits that happened. Falling at 95 yrs old is NOT a good thing. And then spending days in bed is NOT a good thing. She will be in the extended care area at the Forum. NOT where she wants to be but is slowly understanding that is what needs to happen. She will keep her apartment for a while incase she does a whole lot of improvement health wise. I would suspect that not to be the case. The calendar is empty. Yahoo. Well...tonight is Herb meeting and I'm making a delicious Greek pastry to share. Yum...Tons of sugar so will be eating only a smidgen and maybe nothing. I remember the taste well. So... off to the kitchen now for a little baking.
