What a week!

Yes...since I wrote...here is the deal.  20th...Warbinton/Weir Wedding.  This is the third wedding for us this summer.  22nd. Baker Doc appointment.  She is my diabetic doctor  23rd.  I met my 95 year old friend Doris and we selected banners that we will use in a coffee talk at the Forum on Sept 6th.
25th.  Evangelism and hospitality meeting at church.  26th mammogram.  27th.  ALL afternoon  spent with Herb Society friends at the Greek Festival.  We talked about herbs found in the Med. area that are included in Greek cooking.  Woo.  that was a long day.  28th church and I was the liturgist.  29th Doc Dicky getting stitches out of my hand.  Surgery successful.  So...today I said...I'm doing nothing and guess what.  Church called and they needed a receptionist.  So that was my day.  Woo...All that equals my contribution to something.  Tomorrow...I'm home, I hope.  I tend to feel trapped in the house though.  The mosquitoes are horrible.  Half a walk about the house outside and I've been hit more than I would like to admit.  Crazy...bugs...go away.  Last week we had rain, rain.  Morning and evening for at least 4 days and each rain was a real dumping.  Tonight thunder was heard again but it's north of us.  So...the rest of the week includes soup kitchen on Thurs and then NOTHING!  I hope.  The next big thing to get read for is the banner talks.  So onward and forward I guess.  No grass has been growing.

Week is over!!!!!

No grass growing yet but hand surgery is over and healing well.  Big bandage comes off tomorrow night.  I anticipate NO more trigger finger stuff going on.  Nice wedding today and tonight our regular trip to Panara's for pastries for church.  Knitting dishcloths again.  Hand will let me do that.  Infact...the more I move my fingers the better it will be.  More rain today and the ground is soaked.  Some of the zinnia's have flopped and I'll wait till tomorrow to stand them back up.  Garden is lovely.  Had a bunch of pictures developed today of the 4 H boys, back yard flowers and sheep sheering.   Colts are playing tonight and so far so good.  That's the rest of the story.

Now the News.

My head is spinning...not really but no grass is growing under my feet this week.  That's a sure thing.  The Michigan grandson...Jacob and Adam showed their sheep at their county fair and of course, their grandma and grandpa had to see all of this.  So exciting so after doing a few things at church Sun. we headed on up to Midland.  We got there around 5 and planned the next day's events.  Up early for an 8 am arrival at the fairgrounds.  So lots of judging.  first the pigs for me...what fun and so many memories of pigs at the Hostetler Farm.  So many stories.  Then it was sheep judging.  That took some time and the grandsons did a wonderful job.  So much to learn and I'm sure they will do even better next year although Adam says he wants to show ducks.  He should think again about this.  Then afternoon stuff included sheering Oscar the Ram...dividing the older sheep from the younger sheep and then Oscar will be spending time with the ladies that should bring about January lambs.  There could be 4 Romney babies along with perhaps 10 Suffice babies.  Woo...more fun?...maybe if one remembers that January is cold.  Then back to the fair as Jacob and Adam had clean up duty in the barn in the evening.  Then back home for icecream and home made black berry jelly!  Tues morning we left Mi. after all the kids got up.  Woo...the garden is beautiful but now that there has been 3 weeks of no tending...today I filled a huge garbage bin with weeds and dying ferns.  I suited up with as much skin covered since the bugs are just TERRIBLE.  I can get bitten up in one minute.  This afternoon I filled another container and now there is hope for the rest of the flowers.  We had BLT's tonight with our tomatoes and cantaloupe.  Yumm.  NOw for the rest of the week.  Tomorrow morning...Y...then soup kitchen...then hand surgery...Fri. physical with a new doctor.  Sat. Wedding.  Sunday church and Monday another doc appointment with the diabetic lady.  Woo...Tues...I should visit Doris Douglas.  And I'm ready for the rocking chair.  Next Sat. I am working at the Greek Festival with the Herb Society Ladies.  Hope to make pesto.  Yum, yum.  Now you know why no grass is growing under my feet.  I thought I had retired.

Some stuff.

August Evening.  A bit hot.  Copper Harbor vacation is over.  The weather could not have been better.  It felt like air conditioning outside every day but one.  No rain and just wonderful company living right beside us.  Yup...JB Russell and family that ate breakfast of pancakes with us every morning.   Yes...every morning.  Couldn't have been better.  Then it was reading books.  But...I ran out of them.  What a bummer.  So...lots of walking...scooter riding which made our neighbor a little nervous.  It was a blast.  We had a great time with our Novi Mi. friends. Ate pasties and smoked fish more than once or twice or three times.   We took two days to make the trip stopping in Sun Prairie Wis. just east of Madison.  We have a favorite motel and place to eat breakfast.  I spent a few hrs. with Leslie and Dennis at their pottery shop and of course we bought back another stash of stuff.  Now...back to the everyday stuff.  Soup kitchen was this morning.  Sat. morning we have a wedding to attend.  10:30...And then Sunday after hospitality time we're heading back to Jared's house.  Jacob and Adam are showing sheep at the county fair Monday and I NEED to see that.  We probably will be back home on Tues...Thurs...soup kitchen again and then heading to the hand Doc for another trigger finger surgery.  I hope this is the last one and I can say it's the fourth one.  Then Fri...meeting a new doc.  Dr. Goens retired...Bummer...but it's on to the new Doc.  Doug saw him today and he things this doc will be fine.  I'm optimistic.
